How does your instrument help you in your daily life as an artist?
My instrument helps me stay grounded. Wherever I am in the world, knowing trombie is by my side brings me a sense of calm. Because sometimes on tour there can be a lot of chaos and things you can’t control, but at the end of the day its the music, intention and love you create on stage that matters, and my trombone keeps reminding me of that.
How would you characterise your instrument?
I see my trombone as an old friend. It has helped me through tough times, challenged me to grow and opened the door to my inner musicality and composing. We have travelled the world together and seen places I never would have found if it wasn’t for music. We have been friends for 17 years, and we still challenge each other, grow and find new ways together. And were just getting started.
Advice for a young musician:
Follow your curiosity. Follow your joy. Believe in your ideas. Don’t be afraid to go your own way.
