Statement about your relation with Yamaha or your instrument:

I have played Yamaha Custom clarinets since 2013 and SE Artist since 2021 and I am very satisfied. For those wondering; Yamaha custom clarinets are just as even in production as the Yamaha custom saxophones. I play both classical, jazz and folk music and I use the same instruments for everything.

How does your instrument help you in your daily life as an artist?

What is important to me is how the instrument responds and that the intonation is in place, and that the only thing that limits what I can do is myself, not the instrument.

How would you characterise your instrument?

Smooth, even, responsive and warm.

Who was your most influential teacher and is there any advice which you still follow?

It's hard to choose just one, because you pick different things from different teachers, but they have all had a big influence on my playing. My advice is to be curious. I am still learning every day from playing with and listening to other musicians.

Advice for a young musician:

Make recordings of yourself, and you might understand better what your teacher tried to tell you.
